Age Relaxation

Age relaxation does not extend to sons, daughters, or other dependents of Ex-Servicemen — it applies to the Ex-Serviceman personally. Exam Pattern

The Computer-Based Examination runs in two stages, both objective, multiple-choice, and set in Hindi and English.

Paper-I (Qualifying)

Duration: 2 hours (2 hours 40 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates). Paper-I is qualifying in nature — candidates are shortlisted for Paper-II based on merit, subject to clearing the minimum qualifying marks. Negative marking: 0.25 marks deducted per wrong answer.

Paper-II

Duration: 2 hours (2 hours 40 minutes for scribe-eligible candidates). Negative marking: 1 full mark deducted per wrong answer — notably steeper than Paper-I. Separate merit lists are drawn for JE (Civil), JE (Electrical & Mechanical), Scientific Assistant (IMD), and JE (Telecom).

A relevant IS 456:2000 Code of Practice table and Steam Table (where applicable) and a scientific calculator are made available on-screen during the exam — no physical versions are permitted inside the exam lab. Scores are normalized across shifts and, where Mechanical and Electrical candidates receive different question papers, normalized across those streams as well, to determine the final merit and cut-offs fairly.

Application Fee

Fee is payable online only — via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Visa/MasterCard/Maestro/RuPay debit card — up to 23 September 2026, 23:00 hrs. An application with an unpaid or unverified fee shows as “Incomplete” and will be summarily rejected, with no consideration given after the deadline. Fees once paid are non-refundable and cannot be adjusted against a future exam.
