How the 2025 Paper Was Built

Every one of the 150 questions in this test used a multi-part format. 88 gave numbered or lettered statements and asked which of them are correct, 21 were match-the-list, 20 were assertion-and-reason, and 21 asked for the correct order or sequence. None was a plain one-line fact question.

Counted the same way, the UPPSC 2024 paper had 105 multi-part questions out of 150, and 45 direct ones. So the 2025 paper moved from knowing a fact to judging statements, which fits the reports that it was harder than 2024 even where the topics were familiar. In this test, the correct option is D for 48 questions, B for 40, C for 37 and A for 25.

How to Use This Paper for Practice

Take the test once in timed mode, then sort your wrong answers by format: statements, match-the-list, assertion-reason, or sequence. Most of your errors will be statement questions, simply because there are so many of them, so look at whether you lost marks by misjudging one statement or by not knowing the topic at all.

The marking scheme also tells you when to guess. With one-third negative marking, a blind guess among four options has an expected gain of exactly zero. If you can rule out even one option, the guess turns positive: with three options left, the expected gain is about +0.15 marks, and with two left it is about +0.44. In a statement question, being sure that one statement is wrong usually removes two options at once.
